Geeeez! I was a kid. Remember when being a kid meant being a KID? Dewey Eyed Innocence and all that? I never watched or sought out porn as a kid. While my cousin and the others gathered around a porn video or skinemax movie, I was not interested in getting horny with a group of dudes.
I must be unbalanced then. I was into porn since I was about 7.
"Crazy for you" is a tie-in to Vision Quest? That movie seemed 2 minutes in a locker room til gay.
Batman came out in 1989. Crisis was in 1985, that's when they already had decided to make DC more realistic. So it wasn't because of the movie that Crisis was created.
Never understood the "too many universes is too complicated" line. I understood all of it and was able to keep track of it all. Wished they just made the DC universes more realistic and didn't have to "merge" or destroy so many. At the time I was a strong believer that parallel worlds were definitely real and was bothered by the writers destroying whole universes. Or were they? Were the writers guiding the universes or were the universes guiding the writers?
You didn't figure out how to game Columbia House? You wait til there is a big sale. Always remember to send back the ones they sent you. Buy a bunch of 2-5 dollar cds. About 20 of them, also place an order for your regular priced selection at 18-19. If you do it right, even with the s&h, the average price would be 4 dollars a cd. You keep what you really like. Give away some and sell some off at a flea market or garage sale.
V. V comics sucked, had Infantino at his worse. Seriously, admit it, you would have joined the Visitors Youth program. I didn't get Superman, pre-crisis at the time, too dull.

I think you were trying to hint at the fact that it seems like there are more native superheroes that black, proportionally wise. I think it's cause natives seem mystical, while black is just black. Bravestar sorta bothered me, he used a "last of his kind, ancient race" as a horse.

When I said DC may have switched up "on account of Batman being dark" I didn't mean the movie, I meant The Dark Knight Returns, which came out right before Crisis On Infinite Earths.
Dark Knight miniseries was in 1986. So stop trying to say Batman had anything to do to inspire the DC Crisis save. In fact Batman is part of the reason that the Crisis save would eventually begin to collapse.
I think DC was just trying to go darker and more realistic in general. They saw the success they had with Camelot 3000 and Ronin. Unfortunately the rest of the DC universe had so much history behind it. They should have stuck with the original plan and revamped everything.
Nowadays unfortunately too many old time fanboys are writing the stories. Sure I missed Krypto, but I preferred him not to exist in the new continuity. Or kept him a parallel world dupe, instead of now revising him as part of Superman's "true" history.

20 years of that particular COIE "earth" is not a "collapse" in the comics world. That is the natural cycle of things. Each comics age is about 20 years. 1987-2005 is a good run and it was time for change, even if it is back to the way things were.
Batman saved DC. They had poor sales before COIE, except for Batman... Crisis and Man of Steel brought a resurgence in DC, but the Batman movies and animated series kept people coming back to DC comics.
Yeah, the movie and tv series did. Not the comics. Do you remember what Batman was doing at the time of Crisis? He was fighting A lady who powdered her skin with nacrotics over the adoption of the first version of Jason Todd, who was a circus high wire performer whose parents were killed during an act.
Okay, maybe Batman year one helped a bit after, but the regular series just kept killing it. Anyone seen Azrael lately?
