Good article on District 9

I knew I saw District 9 in something else before. Here's the first part of an article at The Last Psychiatrist :

First ten minutes: beginning of Independence Day
Next 30 minutes: CNN footage of Israeli soldiers harassing Palestinians
Next 20: The Fly, when he first starts changing
Next 30: alternating scenes of the beginning of act III of Ironman and the Duke scenes in Escape From New York
Last 20: incomprehensibly pointless- the bad guys (humans) die and the good guys (aliens, of course, represented by a black single father alien-- not a joke) get away.
Credits: future defendants in class action suit

(I'd like to add that the last 20 minutes are the scene from Iron Man, when he returns to Afghanistan to take out the Bad Guys.)

Y-A-W-N I'd rather look at pictures of Kirsten Dunst looking crazy than to read the crap you call "good."

If someone's gonna shit on District 9, you have to try harder than that.

Try harder than what? you didn't even read the article. And you don't have to. This is for people who are interested and appreciate clever reviews.

You'd rather do a lot of things, like recommend conspiracy theory youtube kooks who accuse movie reviewers(!?) of being anti-american. WTF.

I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't recommend anything like that. What does that have to do with this conversation right here, BTW?

Oh, and I messed up. here's the other pic of Kirsten Dunst scaring Japanese people

Your magical mind-reading powers must have failed you, because you can't tell if I read the entire article or not. Even if I didn't read the whole article, wouldn't I get the point in reading the excerpt? The excerpt is consistent with the whole article. The guy didn't like the movie, and he goofed on it. The article was "eh" but like I said, TRY HARDER.

[My word verification this time was "fries." I love fries!]

Yes you did. From your twitter:

I subscribed to cumonass's channel on YouTube http://bit.ly/r8zMl6:23 AM Aug 30th from Google.

And his name is perfect for him. He is an ass.

>>What does that have to do with this conversation right here, BTW?>>

The point, is you are free to recommend shit that you like and I am merely recommending things that I like.

Part of that's an automated message from youtube. I connected my youtube to twitter. And calling him an ass is hardly what I would call a recommendation.

Also, I subscribed to him for about a second. Not an exaggeration, either.

GET OVER IT!

I enjoyed District 9. But I also enjoy reviews. But you, Tim have already reviewed it and are now at this point just bashing it.
That's not interesting or entertaining or professional.

It wasn't even that bad of a movie, it was intense and engaging and original.
Far greater than anything else this year. Well other than Star Trek.

Now, when I see a terrible movie, I usually just forget about. Might review it on my blog or even rewrite the plot to my liking.
That at least is something constructive.

You know what's interesting? That you're actually giving your opinion of District 9 yet again, thinking that Tim will say "OK, my mistake"

He's clearly lost his mind over this.

Professsional? HAHAHAHA

It was a less than average to average movie that was EQUAL to just about anything else I saw this year, except Star Trek. Star Trek was far better.

Well yes professional, because I think that even podcasters should have at least some clue of what they're doing.
But then again, you have been known to eat on air as well as leave in alot of background noise.

I just don't understand why you would hold onto your hatred of this movie for this long. Nor why you can't see how good it was.
Just what were you expecting from it? A Hollywood action film with a more predictable plot?
Are you upset because you wasted money on this?

Regardless I just hope you post more comic reviews and move on.

District 9 *IS* a predictable Hollywood action film, despite the fact the people are in South Africa. The filmmaker emulated Hollywood cliches. And I expected more than that.

I expected that, instead of a concentration camp, that D9 would be a neighborhood, that the human/alien relationship would be complex, not the black and white hate between the races that it was.

Stuff like this:

1)The aliens are oppressed, but their are humans who are wannabes, who want to be spacemen themselves and hang out with the aliens and want something that the aliens can't give them.

2) What about perverts who want to fuck the aliens, and also genuine interspecies relationships?

3)What about questions of the mere existence of extraterrestials and interstellar spaceships and how that effect the mindstates of people both on the initial contact to 20 years later.

4) What about the aliens and their identities and their history?

>>Are you upset because you wasted money on this?>>

I am upset because I wanted something like the movie I described above . Instead I got the standard "Let's take a prejudiced human and make him walk a mile in an alien's/black man's/Arab's/Aborigine/whatever's shoes"

Then they stole the action scenes from Iron Man or Mecha cartoon and slapped it on the end.

Yawn. It's "Dances With Wolves" with aliens. It's "Black Like Me" with aliens and exploding heads.

I'm upset because the trailers hinted that we would get a steak dinner, but we were given a cold, hard hamburger. And most people didn't even complain about that. They ate the hamburger and then raved about it.

As you continue to Juggernaut through District 9 day after day, I'm wondering if I can at least slow you down.

Have you watched Alive in Joburg yet? This was before this Bloomcamp kid got Hollywoodified I think that District 9 bowed a lot more to Hollywood than it should have.

I think you will like Alive in Joburg more than you do District 9 Yeah, I know, "it's easy to like anything more than District 9" It's only 6 minutes long, so watch it if you haven't already.

I don't like all this fighting. Especially from 2 podcasters I enjoy listening to.

I saw it. Fuck that movie too.
