Talk about misleading the audience. First off, Rotten Tomatoes is not a basic review site with one point of view. It's an aggregation site where reviews from all sources are compiled into one basic verdict- fresh or rotten.

Secondly, Kingslee mentioning Joel Silver would lead an uninformed listener to believe that Silver directed Splice and Ninja Assassin. As Tim thankfully pointed out, he's a producer. Had Tim not said that, some people would think that Joel Silver is directing all of these films.

Maybe you can judge if you want to go see a film based on who produces it, but I'd rather judge whether I should rush to see a film based on the directors and stars.

Now, here's why I love Kingslee's appearances on this podcast; he basically writes the jokes for us. Leave it to Kingslee to suggest that there be a homosexual relationship in Splice, rather than a hetero one. It would be novel and more interesting, but still, coming from Kingslee, it's not helping to dispel the rumors (facts)

I sort of agree with Kingslee on the whitewashing of roles in Hollywood. They tend to cast white people in roles that could or should go to non-white people, just because they believe that white leads bring the viewers in.

I do think that race has something to do with Spider-man, but Peter Parker was created to be an average Joe. He is from a middle income family.

As for real people being played by someone of another race, they did it in that Bob Dylan psuedo documentary. I forget the name of it, but Dylan was played by a black kid, a woman, etc.

I think that Peter Parker was not that great of a character in Spider-man anyway. It was not as good as the character is in the comics. I also hated that Spidey didn't trassh talk or make jokes as often as he does in the comics.

I don't need a change in color for Spider-man. I'd like a change in studios! I wish Spider-man was under Marvel Studios. It's very superficial, but I like that there will be a unified Marvel universe, but Spidey, X-men and the FF will not be part of that.

Fully agreed. Though, more so directors than stars.

Agreed again.

I'm Not There.
That was more of an experience though and overall, again I agree with Kingslee, casting an alternate race for a real iconic person wouldn't work.

I don't mind a black Spider-Man as long as it isn't Donald Glover. He sucks.

Splice sounds better than I thought. Will check out when it comes out.

Most things that Kingslee finds fault with sound like a good idea to watch.

I don't know the many works of Donald Glover. My knowledge of him extends to the trailer for Mystery Team

I saw like 2 episodes of Community where he plays an idiot jock character. Very unimpressive.

Wow, and community is considered one of the top funny shows on TV. If he can't make it there, maybe he can't play Patrone Parker, or whatever they would call black Spider-man.

Community blows. Modern Family is the best new comedy of last season.

I still haven't seen Community. I have no excuse since I'm not watching much this summer.

I love Modern Family. At first, I felt like it was going to be corny, but it's damn funny, and I like the characters.

There's no plans to release Splice in Australia and I can't find a torrent but I am interested in seeing it.

I also want to see Community but I haven't seen it on Australian tv either.

But we still get most movies before you, so there!

Plus, Modern Family features young Trixie from Speed Racer. HOT! ;)

No this isn't a censorship reason as far as I know.
But they are brutal on video games, they edited the crap out of L4D.

What's they do with Left 4 Dead? Put a bikini on the witch?

Oh don't get me started on our censorship.

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2009/11/whats-cut-from-aussie-left-4-dead-2-and-how-to-uncut-it/
L4D has no gore or blood over here.
And so when you're playing online if there is an Aussie in the group it's gone there too. Makes us real popular.

Australia's censorship is one of the strictest in the western world.
I don't get the concept of censorship in the first place, I mean you've put a rating on it so that people know what's in it and who it's suitable for.

The excuse the Australian Classification Board always gives us is that it's to protect young children from seeing inappropriate things.
Well for fuck's sake if it's rated R and parents are buying that game or movie for their kids clearly it's not censorship we need, it's better parents.
I understand censorship in the general public, commercial television, posters, magazines ect.
You know things that kids can accidentally stumble across.
But even then, I'm sure I was exposed to inappropriate things as a kid but you're so young and naive you don't think much about it.
It's like as if your dog walks in on you watching porn. It doesn't understand.
Or should I say cat? They're the only domestic animal that can see TV.

But I digress, what about all the adults here, why the fuck can't I see whatever I want?
The Hangover for example is heavily watered down. Even the uncut version is missing alot of scenes making the film a little confusing at times.
I just thought it was poor continuity, but then I did my research and I realised just how deep this censorship goes.
I mean I have only just turned 18 so it's not like I had come across this much before.

What is this, Australia or China?

This reminds me of a conversation I had with this guy on a Matrix forum. He was one of those illuminati conspiracy nuts.
He was a fascinating conversation though.
We talked about how much control a goverment has and really if they wanted to, any country on this planet has the potential to become a dictatorship.

We are all under this pretense of democracy, that we all have a say. But at the end of the day the decision is made by a select few people.

I could go on, but I'm just so pissed off about this I'm going to have to make a podcast or maybe even a vlog about it just to get my tone of voice across.

If you just became JD's sex slave, you could play uncensored L4D any time you wanted.

Oh tempting *maximum sarcasm*

Besides supplying the money, what do movie producers do?

Don't they censor the crap out of everything in Australia? From what a friend told me, porn's all pixeled. And down under is so confused. They don't want boobies exposed but if a woman is dressed her boobies can't be too small.

Did you almost break out laughing when Kingsley revisited the hoyay of Speed Racer?

Does K understand movie story telling? Maybe the writers aren't gonna solve a complicated issue like abuse in their story or that it didn't need to for the story to progress, just show that the issue was present.

Now Kingsley wants homoeroticism? I say, that boy is confused.

Females are easier to clone and breed.

I guess Kingslee never heard of furries. I'm sure there are people making "Splice" bodysuits, even now.

Yeah, I guess you can make Spider-man, black, but then they would have to explore his black issues. And that "comedian" who wants to be Spidey seems like he'll probably try to make his characterization "mo' blacker." And that's not what Spider-man is about.

Certain characters you could make the exchange and it would fit, like Nick Fury. But some don't quite work, even though I liked Wild, Wild West and I liked Smith as West, there were too many contradictions, like West walking around freely at a party of racists, and almost managing to talk his way out of a hanging.

And what's your point? The average review leveled out to 75 per cent, meaning most of the audience likes it. That week, "Greek" and "Splice" were the only movies in the top ten money makers that had fresh tomatoes.

No, that means most of the critics liked it, not the audience. My point was that Rotten Tomatoes is not just some person writing one review. Maybe Kingslee knows that, but it sure didn't sound like that to me.

Finally saw this; I'm surprised that Kingslee didn't suddenly decide that he liked the flick after all when the chick turns into a dude at the end. Also, you should let your listeners know when a movie's got monster rape in it; if I'd known about that, I would have watched this sooner.
